Letter to the Parents

Dear Parents and Friends:

Walnut Valley Unified School District is proud of its accomplishments and its standing in providing the best education possible to students. The District is proud its schools are highly recognized by both the California State Department of Education and the United States Department of Education by being classified as California Distinguished and National Blue Ribbon Schools.  What this means is that children in WVUSD are achieving high marks and have risen to the top of the education system. WVUSD lives by its motto: KIDS FIRST -- EVERY STUDENT EVERY DAY

International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs offered at both high schools provide students with a challenging academic experience that prepares them to be successful in college. Both programs have been acknowledged for their excellence on state, federal, and international levels. Two elementary schools offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program. This international curriculum teaches children to be global thinkers through creative thought and inquiry.

WVUSD is proud of its highly qualified staff. A number of Walnut Valley teachers are National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certified. One of our teachers was even named as California Teacher of the Year. Newly credentialed teachers receive support and training from an exemplary Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program. This state approved program allows teachers to earn their Professional Clear Credential.

Since 1997, the Walnut Valley Educational Foundation has raised over a million dollars for grants that fund innovative classroom projects, for technology and to provide scholarships to graduating seniors. The Foundation's purpose is to raise and disperse funds -- independent of the Walnut Valley Unified School District -- to support enrichment and extra curricular programs. Funds are raised through individual and corporate donations, fund-raising events and a 4-week fee-based summer school program.

The Walnut Valley Educational Foundation is a non-profit organization, classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c) 3 organization. It is governed by an independent Board of Directors, which meets bi-monthly to conduct Foundation business, review funding requests and applications for student scholarships and teacher grants. All donations are fully tax deductible. Ninety (90) percent of all donations are directed to fund grants to teachers for use in the classroom and scholarships for students.

Just as all other industries in California, our schools' budgets have been hit hard by the downturn in the economy. As a result, our children are denied opportunities for learning due to lack of funding. You can help. Please send us your donation today. We assure you the Walnut Valley Educational Foundation will put every dollar received to enhance our children's education by assisting the teachers directly in the classroom or by providing scholarships to qualified students

Please send your donation today. It is easy and quick. Just go on our website at walnutvalleyfoundation.com and make a contribution directly to the WVEF Pay-Pal account. You may also send your contribution by mail to:
